Mother Teresa (1910 – 1997)

Albanian-Indian born, Catholic nun Mother Teresa, began her remarkable ministry at age 18, eventually founding the Missionaries of Charity – a compassionate movement initially dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor in Calcutta. Over the years, her ministry grew to operate in over 130 countries, with thousands more nuns ministering to those sick and dying from incurable diseases. Even through dark periods of spiritual dryness, Teresa became known throughout the world for her dedication to God, and for sacrificially loving the unlovable. Receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, her life has inspired countless people to do the same. We honour Mother Teresa and thank God for the courageous faith she inspires to offer dignity and kindness to all people in the name of Jesus Christ.
